How We Choose
Here's exactly how a machine gets onto a PortableKaraoke list, and what we don't do.
What we use
- The maker's own product page, or the maker's own press release, for every spec on a product card. Each card links to its source and gives the date we read it.
- One clear need per list, such as two wireless mics, a TV connection or battery power. A machine goes on a list only if its published specs match that need.
What we don't do
- We haven't used these machines. We don't describe how they sound in a room or claim first-hand experience. If we spend time with units in person later, those pages will say so clearly.
- No prices or customer scores. Prices change all the time, so our buttons go to the retailer's product page to check the current price, and we don't copy shoppers' scores from retail sites.
- No paid placements. Brands can't pay to be listed.
When a listing doesn't match
Retailer listings sometimes bundle extras or change the colors on offer. Before buying, compare the listing with the maker's page we link. If a spec on our card doesn't match the maker's current page, email hello@portablekaraoke.com and we'll fix it.
